Dayanand Education Society's Dayanand College of Pharmacy, Latur

Dayanand College of Pharmacy, Latur is part of Dayanand Education Society, which was founded in May 1961 to bring higher education to students in the rural Latur area of the then Osmanabad District, since students previously had to travel to cities like Hyderabad, Pune, or Mumbai for higher studies, which was financially difficult for middle and lower-middle-class families. The society was established by dignitaries and businesspeople including Manikrao Sonavane, Chandrashekhar Vajpeyi, Ramgopal Rathi, and Keshavrao Sonawane, who was the Co-Operative Minister of Maharashtra at the time and helped complete the required government procedures. The society offers education in both English and Marathi mediums and currently runs eight colleges in Latur, including Dayanand College of Commerce, Dayanand College of Arts, Dayanand Science College, Dayanand College of Law, Dayanand College of Pharmacy, Dayanand College of Animation, Dayanand College of Fashion Designing and Interior Decoration, and Dayanand College of Architecture, along with a separate Dayanand Institute of Pharmacy. The college was earlier affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, but following the formation of a university in Nanded, it is now affiliated with Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University.
