NATIONAL FORENSIC SCIENCES UNIVERSITY DHARWAD CAMPUS

National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), earlier known as Gujarat Forensic Science University, is a public autonomous institute headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, focused solely on forensic science, investigative science, and criminology. It was established by the Government of Gujarat in 2008 through Act 17, passed by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly on 30 September 2008. In October 2020, it was upgraded to National Forensic Sciences University and recognized as an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through an Act of Parliament. In April 2023, it became an international university following the inauguration of its first campus outside India, in Uganda, which is also Africa's first Forensic Science University; this campus was opened by Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar. As of April 2023, NFSU operates nine campuses across India, including one in Dharwad, Karnataka, along with a campus in Uganda. The university's expansion reflects its growing role in forensic education and research both nationally and internationally.
