Pritilata Waddedar Mahavidyalaya

Pritilata Waddedar Mahavidyalaya is a college situated at Panikhali in Nadia district, West Bengal. It was originally established as a women's college but has since become co-educational, offering undergraduate courses in arts. The college is affiliated to the University of Kalyani, and its name commemorates the legacy of freedom fighter and revolutionary Pritilata Waddedar. The institution was founded due to the efforts of academics in Panikhali and nearby areas, who recognized the need for a government-aided general degree college since there was no college within about 15 km. With support from local villagers, academics, and government departments, the college, initially named 'Pritilata Mahila Mahavidyalaya', was established in 2007 for girls' education, affiliated with the University of Kalyani. Classes were first held at Jugal Kishore S.S. Sikhyatan. Financial aid from Sheikh Khabir Uddin Ahmed, a Member of Parliament, and M.L.A. Dabendranath Biswas helped develop the college's building and infrastructure. In 2009, classes and administrative work moved to the present premises. The Arts department offers courses in Bengali (Honours and General), English, History (Honours and General), Political Science, and Philosophy.
