Sri Venkateswara College

Sri Venkateswara College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi, established in 1961 through the efforts of Durgabai Deshmukh, K. L. Rao, and C. Anna Rao, under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust. It began in a school building in Rouse Avenue with 271 students and 13 faculty members, later moving to its permanent campus at Dhaula Kuan in 1971. Initially offering BA courses in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Sanskrit, it expanded into honours courses in arts and sciences, gaining recognition as a constituent college of the University of Delhi in 1973. The college now houses departments including Economics, Mathematics and Statistics, English, Political Science, History, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, and Biochemistry. It has facilities such as an on-campus hostel, a Bioinformatics Center established in 2006, an 800-seat auditorium, a seminar hall, and a large library. Governed by TTD along with University of Delhi oversight, the college has had several notable principals since 1973. It was ranked 14th among Indian colleges by NIRF in 2022 and 13th in 2023. Notable alumni include Jayant Chaudhary, Rishabh Pant, Sonam Wangchuk, and Navdeep Singh.
