Government Medical College Idukki
Government Medical College, Idukki (abbreviated GMCI) is a government medical college in Kerala, India, established in 2014 with permission to admit 50 students. The campus is located in Cheruthoni, Idukki. The institute is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. In 2017, the Medical Council of India denied accreditation to the college due to a lack of proper infrastructure and facilities, preventing it from admitting new students, and the existing students were shifted to other medical colleges. In 2022, the National Medical Commission granted approval for the college to admit 100 students for the MBBS programme, and the college's MBBS programme has been approved by the National Medical Commission since that year. On November 15, 2022, the college commenced classes for its first-year MBBS students, with 100 students securing admission.
