Tripura Medical College & Dr. B.R.A.M. Teaching Hospital

Tripura Medical College & Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital (TMC) is a private medical college located at Hapania in West Tripura district, near Agartala, the capital of Tripura. It is run by the Society For Tripura Medical College (SFTMC), formed with representation from both the college and the Government of Tripura. The college was established in 2005 by the Government of Tripura and Global Educational Net (GENET) as a public-private partnership, the first of its kind in India, and received permission for MBBS admissions in 2006. After GENET withdrew in 2009, the government formed SFTMC to run the institution. The campus spans about 31 acres and includes a 490-bedded hospital with NICU, PICU, ICU, ICCU, Burn Unit, and Blood Bank facilities, along with academic buildings, laboratories, and a central library. TMC has numerous clinical and super-specialty departments, including Cardiology, Nephrology, and Urology. It admits 150 MBBS students annually, with 20 seats under the All India Quota via NEET. The college is affiliated with Tripura University, recognized by the National Medical Commission, and offers postgraduate MD/MS courses in several departments. Student life includes annual events like NEURON and EMBRYION, along with health camps and blood donation drives.
