Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) is a public medical college located in Kankarbagh, Patna, Bihar, India. It was established in 1970 as a government medical college by Dr. Vijay Narayain Singh, Dr. Madhusudan Das, Dr. Shailendra Kumar Sinha, and Shri Krishna Kant Singh, the then education minister of Bihar. The institute is affiliated to Bihar University of Health Sciences, Patna, and is recognized by the National Medical Commission. Its intake capacity was 100 students until 2018, increased to 120 in 2019, and further to 150 in 2020. NMCH offers undergraduate MBBS courses and postgraduate courses in medicine, surgery, gynaecology, anaesthesiology, pediatrics, dermatology, orthopedics, ENT, preventive and social medicine, pathology, pharmacology, forensic medicine and toxicology, microbiology, physiology, and biochemistry, with more than 80 postgraduate seats. The hospital has about 750 normal beds and 200 emergency beds, spread over two campuses covering 100 acres: the college campus at Bhoothnath and the hospital campus at Agamkuan. The hospital campus includes a centre of excellence, vaccine house, and hostels, while the college campus has an administrative building, hostels, a library, and lecture theatres. The MBBS course lasts four and a half years plus a one-year internship, with admissions via NEET-UG.
