National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur
The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) is a research institute of Ayurvedic medicine situated in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Its origins trace back to 1946, when it was established as an independent Ayurvedic College by the Government of Rajasthan. This institute was later transformed into the National Institute of Ayurveda by the Government of India, officially established on 7 February 1976 in Jaipur as an autonomous institute. On 13 November 2020, the Indian government announced that NIA would be a Deemed to be University under the De-novo category, enabling it to provide teaching, clinical training, research, and quality patient care services in Ayurveda. The institute is one of nine national institutes established in India for training and research in AYUSH systems of medicine under the Ministry of AYUSH. It offers a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree, a postgraduate MD (Ayurveda) degree, and a post-doctoral Ph.D. (Ayurveda) degree across 14 specialties.
