Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana
Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC or GNE Ludhiana) is one of the oldest engineering institutions in northern India, situated at Gill Park, Ludhiana, Punjab. Its foundation stone was laid on 8 April 1956 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, and the college is named after Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru. The campus spans 86 acres and includes a central library, workshops, hostels, a swimming pool, and sports facilities. Originally affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh, the college later became affiliated with I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, after the latter's establishment in 1997. GNE was the first engineering college in Punjab to receive Autonomous Status from the University Grants Commission in 2012 and has been selected for World Bank assistance under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). It offers B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Arch, BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, and Ph.D. programs. The college was ranked 70th among engineering colleges in India by India Today in 2020. It hosts cultural and technical festivals such as Anand Utsav and Atharva, along with various professional society chapters, NSS/NCC wings, and a community radio station.
