Kirori Mal College
Kirori Mal College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi, established in 1954 and situated in the heart of the university's North Campus in Delhi. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the sciences, humanities, and commerce. The college began as Nirmala College on Delhi Road before the trust founded by Seth Kirori Mal took over management, and it moved to its present campus on 1 February 1954. Its foundation stones were laid by India's first President, Rajendra Prasad, in 1955, with the campus designed by architects Anand Apte and CSH Jhabvala. The first principal was Ch. Hardwari Lal (1954–57), followed by Sarup Singh (1957–65), who later became Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University and Governor of Gujarat. The college was selected for sports training during the 2010 Commonwealth Games, leading to new sports facilities. It has been accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.54 (A++), ranking third highest among Delhi University colleges, and was ranked 18th, 19th, and 4th among Indian colleges by NIRF in 2019, 2020, and 2025 respectively. Notable alumni include actors, politicians, and public figures such as Amitabh Bachchan and Naveen Patnaik.
