Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences

Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) is an autonomous government medical college under the Government of Karnataka, situated on National Highway 275 between Bengaluru and Mysuru, about 90 km from Bengaluru and 46 km from Mysuru. The institution started in 2005, with its first batch of MBBS students admitted in 2006, and its first postgraduate batch, including pre- and paraclinical subjects, admitted in 2010–2011. The campus spans 25 acres and includes a 550-bed attached hospital, residential quarters for staff and faculty, and separate hostels for undergraduate and postgraduate male and female students. A COVID-19 lab was established during the pandemic, and MIMS gained recognition for delivering 107 healthy babies from COVID-affected pregnant women. The institution is governed by a council chaired by the Karnataka Minister for Medical Education, with administration led by a director, principal, medical superintendent, chief administrative officer, and financial advisor. Admissions are merit-based through state and national entrance tests. MIMS offers a 150-seat MBBS course, MD/MS postgraduate courses across 19 specialties, and several two- to three-year paramedical diploma courses, each with 20 seats, catering to PUC- and SSLC-passed students. All courses are permitted by the National Medical Commission.
