School of Planning & Architecture Vijaywada
The School of Planning and Architecture, Vijaywada is one of three Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs) in India, established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2008. It was set up as an autonomous institute and operates as a fully Centrally Funded Technical Institution (CFTI). The institute holds the status of an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, a distinction it shares with premier institutions such as the IITs, NITs, and AIIMS. SPA Vijaywada is part of a league of three SPAs, the other two being SPA Bhopal and SPA Delhi. In 2014, the Lok Sabha passed a bill aimed at elevating all three SPAs, including SPA Vijaywada, to the status of 'centres of excellence,' following the pattern established by the IITs and IIMs. Beyond these facts, the available text does not provide further specific details about SPA Vijaywada's admissions process, campus, programmes offered, or rankings, as the source material primarily focuses on SPA Bhopal.
