National Institute of Pharmaceutical, Educational and Research, Mohali

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) institutions are a group of national-level universities of pharmaceutical sciences, or pharmacy schools, in India. The Government of India has declared the NIPERs as Institutes of National Importance. They operate as autonomous bodies under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The institutes offer postgraduate academic programs including a two-year full-time Master of Science (Pharma.) in disciplines such as Pharmaceutical Analysis, Natural Products, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Pharmacoinformatics, Pharmaceutics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practice, Medical Devices, and Regulatory Affairs, as well as Master of Technology (Pharma.) and Master of Business Administration (Pharma.) programs. At the doctoral level, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program is offered in both full-time and part-time modes, covering fields such as Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacoinformatics, Biotechnology, and Medical Devices. The broader NIPER system has also seen proposals and discussions over the years for establishing additional institutes in various Indian states, though many of these proposed locations have faced delays or been dropped by the government.
