NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY, VARANASI

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is an autonomous institute offering courses in fashion, technology, and management, with its head office in New Delhi, India. NIFT was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and was declared a statutory institute in 2006 under the NIFT Act of the Indian Parliament, empowering it to grant its own degrees. NIFT currently has 19 campuses across the country, with Varanasi becoming the latest addition to the NIFT network, established in 2024. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in design, management, and technology, including Bachelor in Design, Bachelor in Fashion Technology, Master's in Design, Master's in Fashion Technology, Masters in Fashion Management, and PhD programmes (full-time and part-time), along with a Foundation Programme and Continuing Education Programmes. Campuses feature labs such as computer labs, sewing machine labs, photography labs, pattern making and draping labs, weaving labs, dyeing and printing labs, and garment technology labs, as well as student facilities including a library, hostel, canteen, health care, counselling, and gym and sports centers, plus amphitheaters, auditoriums, and an incubation cell.
