Footwear Design and Development Institute - Hyderabad

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) is an educational institute headquartered in Sector-24, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, established under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in 1986 to provide human resource and technical services to the industry. It was upgraded to an Institute of National Importance by an act of parliament in 2017. FDDI operates multiple campuses across India, including Noida, Fursatganj (Raebareli), Chandigarh, Ankleshwar, Guna, Chennai, Patna, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara, and Jodhpur. The institute conducts professional courses in fashion design, footwear design and production, retail and fashion management, and leather lifestyle and product designing, with long-term Bachelor of Design programs of four years duration. Admission is through the FDDI All India Selection Test (FDDI-AIST), a national-level entrance examination conducted in two stages: a pen-and-paper design and general aptitude test followed by counselling. The test evaluates candidates' visualization, creative, observation, comprehension, and analytical skills. FDDI also engages in industrial consultancy, research and development, and training of industry professionals, supported by facilities such as computer labs, photography labs, pattern making and draping labs, weaving labs, dyeing and printing labs, technology labs, garment technology labs, leather design labs, accessory design labs, and digital classrooms.
