Eastern Christian College

Eastern Christian College (ECC) was a co-educational, private Christian college located in Bel Air, Maryland, United States. It was supported by Christian Churches and Churches of Christ, part of the Restoration Movement. The institution was established in 1946 as Eastern Christian Institute in East Orange, New Jersey, and moved to its final location in Bel Air, Maryland in 1960, at which point it was renamed Eastern Christian College. Throughout its history, the college faced significant financial struggles. In 1993, ECC merged with Lincoln Christian University and was renamed Lincoln Christian College East Coast in an effort to stabilize its finances. Despite some success, the college ceased operations and closed in 2005. Its remaining funds, library holdings, and equipment were absorbed by Mid-Atlantic Christian University, and a plurality of its active students transferred there as well. The former Bel Air campus was situated on the Fair Meadows estate, which is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Eastern Christian College awarded Bachelor's and Associate's degrees during its operation, and its academic records are now archived at Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
