Government Medical College, Azamgarh

Government Medical College and Super Facility Hospital, Azamgarh is a state-run medical institution situated in Chakrapanpur, about 20 km from Azamgarh city in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government decided to establish the college and hospital in 2006 at an approximate cost of ₹300 crore. In 2013, the institute was recognized by the Medical Council of India (now the National Medical Commission) for 100 M.B.B.S. seats, and academic activities began that August with the first batch of students. The hospital, which started with outpatient departments in 2006, has grown to a 550-bed facility with emergency and private wards, staffed by trained clinicians, nurses, and paramedical personnel. The college receives guidance and mentorship from Baba Raghav Das Medical College, Gorakhpur. Each year, 100 students are admitted to the M.B.B.S. program through the NEET examination. The campus spans 105 acres and includes an administrative block, academic block, central library, examination hall, auditorium, lecture theatre, and various academic departments, along with residential facilities such as faculty and staff flats, hostels for senior and junior residents, boys' and girls' hostels, intern hostels, a nursing hostel, and a guest house.
