The supplied text describes Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), a public university located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, chartered in 1996 by the Government of Karnataka to regulate and promote higher education in health sciences across the state. It notes that prior to RGUHS's formation, health science education in Karnataka was overseen by multiple universities, leading to inconsistent standards, and that the Karnataka government passed the RGUHS Act in 1994, which took effect in 1996. The university is named after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and oversees disciplines including medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health sciences. The text lists numerous affiliated medical colleges and notable alumni, and mentions a 2023 controversy regarding a proposed renaming of the university. However, the text does not contain any specific information about 'Sri Rajiv Gandhi College of Dental Sciences,' including its founding, location details beyond the general reference to Bengaluru, Karnataka, or its affiliation status, so no further details can be provided based on this source.
