Divine Mercy College

Divine Mercy College was a former Roman Catholic independent secondary boarding school for boys situated in Buckinghamshire, England. It was co-founded in 1953 by Rev. Józef Jarzębowski of the Marian Fathers together with lay members of the Polish community in Great Britain, aiming to provide an education combining a British curriculum with Polish language, culture and history for children of Polish displaced persons resettled in the UK. The school was housed in purpose-built blocks within the grounds of Fawley Court, a Grade I listed 17th-century country house near Henley-on-Thames, with its main house used for the library, museum, chapel, refectory, kitchens and administrative offices. Teaching staff included lay men and women, some former university teachers from pre-war Poland, alongside exiled Marian fathers. Pupils, mostly of Polish descent but also including British and foreign diplomats' children, sat British public examinations. After Jarzębowski's death, Fr. Andrzej Janicki MIC became rector. The school closed in 1986 due to declining enrollment, later becoming a conference and retreat centre before the property was sold in 2010.
