S K D AGRICULTURE COLLEGE

Shri Karan Narendra College of Agriculture, also known as SKN College of Agriculture, is located in Jobner, Rajasthan, India. It is the first institute for agriculture education established in the state and functions as a constituent college of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University. The college's origins trace back to 1893, when Rawal Karan Singh of Jobner established the Anglo-Vedic High School, inspired by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. In July 1947, coinciding with Indian independence, his son Rawal Narendra Singh upgraded this school into the agriculture college. At that time, it was the only institute in Rajasthan devoted to agricultural education. Today, the college comprises 15 departments and offers B.Sc.(Ag.) Hons, M.Sc.(Ag.) in 11 subjects, and Ph.D. in 8 subjects. It has a faculty of 100, a non-teaching staff of 400, and around 400 enrolled students. In 2020, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research ranked the college 54th among agricultural universities in the country. The college also gained attention that year for a groundwater recharging project that helped a nearby Rajasthan village meet its water needs. Admission to the undergraduate program is through a Joint Entrance Test conducted by Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner, or Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur.
