IISER Tirupati is an autonomous public university in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now the Ministry of Education) as part of the Andhra Pradesh bifurcation bill. It began academic functioning in the 2015-2016 academic year, initially operating from a transit campus at the Sree Rama Educational Society, Tirupati, with mentoring support from IISER Pune until a director was appointed. The foundation stone was laid on 28 March 2015 by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. A permanent campus of over 250 acres was allocated at Yerpedu, with groundbreaking in October 2020, and the institute began operating from this permanent campus in 2024. In 2026, it announced plans to collaborate with Dalhousie University and IIT Tirupati on the Tirupati Tri-Institutional Global Innovation Campus. The institute offers a five-year BS-MS integrated program, admission for which is coordinated with other IISERs, IISc Bangalore, and IIT Madras via the IISER Aptitude Test, along with PhD and Integrated PhD programs in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Earth & Climate Sciences. Campus facilities include a gym, library, computer lab, sports courts, and various student clubs covering academics, arts, and sports.
