National Institute of Technology Sikkim

National Institute of Technology Sikkim (NIT Sikkim) is a public engineering and research institution located near Ravangla, Sikkim, India. It was one of ten new NITs sanctioned by the Government of India under the 11th Five Year Plan in 2009 and began functioning in August 2010. It is an autonomous institute functioning under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and has been declared an Institute of National Importance. The institute currently operates from a temporary campus at Ravangla, while a permanent campus is under construction at Khamdong, Sikkim, expected to be completed by March 2027. NIT Sikkim offers a 4-year B.Tech. programme, a 2-year M.Tech. programme, and Ph.D. programmes, with admissions through JEE (Main) and GATE respectively. Departments include Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Mechanical Engineering, along with Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The institute is home to the PARAM Kanchenjunga supercomputer, built in collaboration with C-DAC. It also has a central library, Wi-Fi-enabled campus, hostels, sports facilities, and hosts student events like Abhiyantran and Udgam.
