Hans Raj College

Hansraj College, located in the North Campus of the University of Delhi, was established on 26 July 1948 in memory of Mahatma Hansraj, founder of DAV College Lahore. Initially an institution for men, it became co-educational in 1978 and now has around 5,000 students, making it one of the largest constituent colleges of the university. It is a premier institution under the DAV Managing Committee. In 2025, NIRF ranked it 3rd among colleges in India, and it holds an A++ NAAC accreditation with a CGPA of 3.71. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science, commerce, and liberal arts, along with job-oriented add-on certificate courses. It supports research through initiatives like the Star College program and research cells in biological sciences, finance, and economics. Facilities include a central library, computer and science laboratories, sports infrastructure including an electronic shooting range, hostels for boys and girls, an auditorium, seminar rooms, and dining facilities including a Mitti Cafe outlet employing persons with disabilities. Admissions follow the University of Delhi's centralized process, now based on the CUET examination rather than the earlier cut-off percentage system. The college hoisted a Monumental Flag in 2017, becoming the first Delhi University college to do so.
