Fr. Muller College of Physiotherapy
Fr. Muller College of Physiotherapy operates as part of Father Muller Medical College, located at Kankanady in Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. The college is one of several institutions under the Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), which trace their origins to Father Muller Hospital, founded in 1880 by Fr. Augustus Muller, a German Jesuit priest. In 1989, Fr. Muller Institute of Medical Education and Research was constituted, and FMIMER began operations in 1991 with postgraduate courses. The Bachelors in Physiotherapy (B.P.T.) course was introduced in 1994–95 as part of the expanding academic offerings under FMIMER, alongside other undergraduate programs such as B.Sc. M.L.T., B.A.S.L.P., and B.Sc. Radiography. The institution is administered under the Diocese of Mangalore, with Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha serving as president. Fr. Muller Medical College, with which the physiotherapy program is affiliated, is itself affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Students benefit from attached teaching hospitals, including Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital and Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay, as well as rural health care centers. The college also organizes various inter-college events and sporting competitions annually.
