Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder is the only college located in Mayabunder, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. It was set up in 1990 at Car Nicobar as Government College, and in 1994 it was shifted to Mayabunder, where it was renamed Mahatma Gandhi Government College on 5 December 1994. The institution offers undergraduate courses across six disciplines and has a total strength of 760 students, supported by 44 teaching staff, 30 non-teaching staff, and more than 50 supporting staff. It is affiliated to Pondicherry University. In terms of student activism, in April 2022 an ABVP delegation led by student leader Siddhanth Rai Sharma visited the MGGC campus for three days, interacting with students and listening to their concerns. A controversy arose in 2022 during the Local Body Elections period when the college administration passed a hostel order seen as favoring girls' hostel facilities over boys'. Following objections raised by Sharma to the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, the college administration revoked the order, which had been deemed unjust.
