United Theological College (UTC) is an ecumenical Mainline Protestant seminary founded in 1910 in Bangalore, Karnataka, South India. It is affiliated with the Senate of Serampore College (University) and has been granted autonomous college status since 1976. The college is recognized as a principal center for the development and practice of Dalit theology. Mahatma Gandhi visited the college in 1927, and India Post released a centenary commemorative stamp honoring UTC on 8 July 2011. The college's motto, derived from Matthew 20:28 in the Vulgate, is often condensed to 'Not to be Served but to Serve.' UTC offers courses including a Diploma in Women's Studies, Certificate Course in Christian Studies, Diploma for Proficiency in Counselling, Diploma in YMCA Professional Secretaryship, Bachelor of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Theology. The college maintains exchange programs with the University of Basel and the University of Edinburgh. It publishes a pastoral magazine called Masihi Sevak and has produced other works, including a translation of the Tiruvacakam. The college has a large theological library containing 200-year-old palm leaf manuscripts, preserved with a grant from the United States Embassy in 2006.
