Maharaja College, Ara

Maharaja College, located in Arrah, Bihar, is a constituent college of Veer Kunwar Singh University. It was founded on 13 September 1954 by Maharaja Bahadur Ram Ran Vijay Prasad Singh and is regarded as one of the oldest co-educational institutions in south-west Bihar. Initially part of Magadh University, it became affiliated with Veer Kunwar Singh University after its establishment in 1992. The college campus spans 8.5 acres and is situated 1.5 kilometres from Ara Junction railway station. It houses several buildings including a BCA department building, a central library, an administrative building, a botanical garden, a cricket ground, and the historic Arrah House, which preserves the memory of the 1857 Siege of Arrah and now functions as the Veer Kunwar Singh Museum under the Archaeological Survey of India. A study centre of Nalanda Open University also operates within the campus, offering distance education courses. The college has departments of Humanities, Science, and Commerce, and offers PhD, postgraduate, undergraduate, and vocational programs. Notable alumni include Sudama Prasad and Pawan Singh.
