SRI AUROBINDO INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND STUDIES

Sri Aurobindo Institute of Higher Studies and Research (S.A.I.H.S.R), also known as Matrubhaban, is located at Cuttack, Odisha. The institute was founded on 18 July 1971, though its roots trace back to 1948 when the Sri Aurobindo Study Circle movement began, inspired by the principles of Sri Aurobindo. It is one of two such study circles established in Odisha, the other opening at Rairangpur in 1949, with the Cuttack circle following in 1950. The institute was later founded in 1949 after these two circles were set up under the guidance of Sri Ramakrishna Das, known as Babaji Maharaj, a follower of Sri Aurobindo. Babaji Maharaj led efforts to spread Sri Aurobindo's philosophy across Odisha, establishing integral education centers, women's groups, study circles, and youth organizations. Matrubhaban in Cuttack served as the central hub for these activities, drawing participants from branches and zones throughout Odisha. The institute is dedicated to the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, emphasizing the growth of human awareness, spiritual development, and integral education. Organizationally, the work in Odisha is divided into nine zones, each headed by a district, with officials from every zone meeting annually at Matrubhaban to plan future activities and assess ongoing endeavors. The institute is affiliated with the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha.
