Assam Institute of Management

Assam Institute of Management was established in 1988 by the Government of Assam at Guwahati to promote professional management in North East India. It functions as a Government of Assam Society, with the Chief Secretary of the State serving as chairperson of its Governing Body. Following a special request by then Chief Minister Hiteswar Saikia, the AICTE approved the institute's programme despite infrastructural deficiencies, citing its strong academic content and faculty resources. The institute moved to its permanent campus in January 2015. Since 1994, AIM has conducted a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme, which was upgraded to a full-fledged MBA degree from the 2018–20 batch, affiliated with Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU). The MBA programme follows a trimester pattern and has been reviewed by CRISIL and professors from IIM Calcutta. The institute hosts foundation lectures featuring distinguished speakers such as T. Scarlett Epstein, Dr. Subir Choudhuri, and Professor C. Rangarajan. AIM also organizes an annual B-school fest called AIM Quest, featuring events like Yojana, Quizzicals, Ranbhumi, and Ad Zap, focused on social issues and corporate social responsibility.
