JIO INSTITUTE
Jio Institute is a private institute of higher education based in India, founded in 2018 by Reliance Industries Limited, one of the largest conglomerates in India. The institute is based in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, and is sited on 800 acres (320 hectares) of land. The Ministry of Education issued a Letter of Intent to Jio Institute for setting up an 'Institutes of Eminence' under the greenfield category, a decision that was followed by criticism. The institute's campus is currently under construction in Karjat, Maharashtra, and is expected to be completed by 2023. Once completed, the campus will include research centers, libraries, and sports facilities. Academically, Jio Institute plans to offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various fields, including engineering, humanities, and social sciences. The institute represents an effort by Reliance Industries to establish a major center of higher education in India, though details about accreditation, affiliation, and official web presence are not specified in available information.
