Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad (IIIT Dharwad) is an Institute of National Importance set up under a non-profit Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model by the Ministry of Education (India). It functions as an academic and research institute funded by the Government of India, the Government of Karnataka, and industry partner KEONICS. The institute is autonomous, headed by a chairperson with a board of governors and a senate, and is self-sustaining, with running expenses met through tuition and other fees paid by students. It offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and doctoral programs across various academic disciplines. Undergraduate admissions are conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority counselling process based on JEE-Main ranks, while doctoral admissions involve a screening test followed by an interview. The institute began operations in 2015 at a temporary campus in IT Park, Hubli. In February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a permanent campus at Tadasinakoppa village near Dharwad. By November 2021, construction of the permanent campus, spread across 60 acres with 30 classrooms and hostel facilities for 300 boys and 100 girls, was completed and academic operations had begun there.
