Chennai Institute of Technology
Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) is a private engineering college situated in Kundrathur, a suburb on the southwestern outskirts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 2010 by the Parthasarathy Seeniammal Educational Trust, the institution began with four undergraduate programs and an intake of 240 students. It expanded in 2015 with additional programs and gained autonomous status from Anna University in 2018, allowing it to design its own curriculum and conduct examinations. The campus spans about 40 acres and includes academic blocks, a library with over 50,000 volumes, hostel facilities for 1,500 male and 1,000 female students, sports infrastructure, and a transportation network of over 80 buses. CIT offers twelve undergraduate engineering disciplines, three M.E. postgraduate programs, MBA and MCA courses, and Ph.D. programs in six disciplines recognized by Anna University. The institution is approved by AICTE and affiliated with Anna University for degree conferment. In 2024, NIRF ranked CIT in the 101–150 band for engineering institutions and the 151–200 band for overall institutional ranking.
