Govt. Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram

Government Engineering College, Barton Hill (GEC-BH) is a public engineering college located in Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, India. It was founded in 1999 by the Government of Kerala and offers engineering programmes affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University since 2015, with National Board of Accreditation accreditation for all its departments. The college has five major departments: Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Two former principals, Dr. M. S. Rajasree and Dr. Ciza Thomas, were appointed Vice Chancellors of Kerala Technological University, though Rajasree's appointment was later declared void by the Supreme Court. The college is currently ranked second among 138 affiliated colleges according to the Academic Performance Index report. The campus, about 6 acres, is centrally located near Palayam and beside the Government Law College, Trivandrum, with two hostels for women. The institute offers five B.Tech courses and four M.Tech courses, each with specific annual intakes, and admissions are based on merit through the Centralized Admission Procedure using the Common Entrance Examination scores. The Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology departments have well-equipped laboratories supporting practical and research work.
