It is recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education, West Bengal, and is affiliated with West Bengal University of Technology (Wbut) and the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCT&VE&SD). The institute is recognized by the Government of West Bengal, and all its courses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The campus is located 18 km from Prayag Film City, beside State Highway 4, on the outskirts of Chandrakona Town in West Midnapore district, spread over 20 acres of land with administrative and academic blocks, training and placement cell, resource center, workshops, laboratories, food court, playgrounds, and hostel facilities. IST offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs including B.Tech, M.Tech, diploma (Polytechnic) courses, BCA, MCA, BBA, and BHM. Admission to B.Tech courses is based on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination and All India Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE), while other courses follow criteria set by the Academic Council of the University. The institute hosts annual events such as Teacher's Day, Freshers Program, and Annual Sports.
