Panjab University Rural Centre Kauni

Panjab University Rural Centre Kauni is a Regional Centre of Panjab University, located at Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab. Panjab University itself is a collegiate public state university headquartered in Chandigarh, India, tracing its origins to the University of the Punjab, Lahore, founded in 1882, and re-established as East Punjab University on 1 October 1947 after the partition of India. It was later renamed Panjab University and relocated to a campus in Chandigarh designed by Pierre Jeanneret under Le Corbusier's guidance. The university is funded by both State and Union governments and is accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade. It has 78 teaching and research departments, 10 centres/chairs, and 201 affiliated colleges spread across eight districts of Punjab and the union territory of Chandigarh. To extend its reach, Panjab University maintains Regional Centres at Sri Muktsar Sahib, Ludhiana, and Hoshiarpur, which serve as extensions of the main university for teaching and administrative purposes in these regions. The main campus in Chandigarh remains the university's administrative and academic hub, while its regional centres, including the one at Sri Muktsar Sahib, support the university's broader academic mission across Punjab.
