VIVEKANANDA COLLEGE, ALIPURDUAR
Vivekananda College, established in 1985, is a general degree college situated in Alipurduar, within Alipurduar district, West Bengal. It offers undergraduate courses exclusively in the arts stream, with departments including Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Education, and Economics. The college is affiliated to the University of North Bengal. Its facilities include a library with more than 11,000 books, supported by reader's and borrower's cards, with ongoing computerization efforts. The institution provides full and half fee waivers based on academic merit and financial need, though these are not given to students already receiving SC/ST stipends or other scholarships. Students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes can apply for government stipends and scholarships through the Principal, and railway concessions are available for long-distance travel. The college also offers opportunities for enrolment in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) for eligible students. The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It attempted NAAC accreditation but initially failed to clear the IIQA stage; a subsequent NAAC peer team visit in March 2021 resulted in a D grade, indicating non-accreditation.
