Vivekananda Institute of Technology (VKIT) is located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University while being approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. It was established in 1997 by the Janatha Education Society (JES), a body registered in 1972 by 12 promoters, during its Silver Jubilee year. Under JES, 16 institutions operate under the Swamy Vivekananda name across four campuses. VKIT's students are colloquially known as VKITians. The institute offers undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering programs in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. It also serves as a research centre in four engineering disciplines. The campus spans 26 acres near Kumbalagodu on the Bangalore-Mysore State Highway (SH-17) and includes hostels for men and women, staff quarters, a guest house, cafeteria, outdoor sports facilities, and an indoor games complex. Power is supplied through a dedicated HT connection from BESCOM along with captive generating units, and the institute operates its own bus fleet connecting to the city. VKIT hosts an IEEE student branch that organizes technical competitions and workshops, as well as an annual cultural fest called VIBHIN.
