Dhruva College of Management

The College of Defence Management (CDM) is an Indian defence service training institution that imparts management training to officers of the three armed services. Sponsored by India's Ministry of Defence, it is considered the only exclusive college in Asia for defence management training and is located in Sainikpuri, Secunderabad. CDM originated in December 1970 as the Institute of Defence Management, part of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, with Brigadier V. Dhruva as founder Director. Its first course, the Long Defence Management Course, began in March 1971 with 44 students. Over time it developed courses at Masters, MPhil, and doctoral levels, and established several faculties, including Organization Behavior, Decision Analysis, Research and Consultancy, Training Support, and later Information Systems. In 1983 it became a cooperating member of the All India Management Association, and in 1985 it was renamed the College of Defence Management. Osmania University accredited its courses in 1994 and recognized it as a national research center in 2005. CDM also provides research, consultancy, and management sessions for public and private sectors.
