Dayanand Medical College (DMC) is a private medical college and hospital located in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Its origins trace back to 1934, when Dr. Banarsi Dass Soni, a former Captain in the Indian Military Service, founded the Arya Medical School in a rented building in Civil Lines, Ludhiana. In 1936, management of the school passed to the Arya Samaj, Saban Bazar, Ludhiana, under the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Punjab. In 1964, the school became a full-fledged MBBS college, known as Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), with industrialist Shri H. R. Dhanda serving as its founder president. In 1980, DMCH became the first hospital in Punjab to establish a dialysis unit in its nephrology service. The college is accredited by the National Medical Commission for MBBS and various specialty and super-specialty courses, and is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. It offers MBBS, MD/MS postgraduate, PG diploma, and super-specialty courses, and includes the DMCH College of Nursing. Since April 2001, the Hero DMC Heart Institute has provided cardiac care. In 2024, the National Institutional Ranking Framework ranked the institute 40th in the medical category.
