Government College Patan

Government Engineering College, Patan (GEC Patan) is an AICTE approved post-secondary engineering college located in Katpur village near Patan, Gujarat, India. It was established in April 2004 with three branches—Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering—each with an intake of 60 students, totaling 180. Initially, the institute functioned from the premises of K. D. Polytechnic, Patan, before moving to its own newly built campus in Katpur village in August 2008. In June 2009, two more branches, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering, were introduced, each with an intake of 60, and the intake of the existing three branches was increased to 120. Currently, the institute has a total intake of 480 students across five branches. It runs five undergraduate degree programs: Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Each department maintains dedicated laboratories and facilities, including high-performance computing labs for Computer Science, and modern experimental and computational facilities for Electrical Engineering, aiming to provide practical, industry-relevant education.
