Bijni College
Bijni College is an undergraduate institution situated on the Indo-Bhutan border in Bijni, within the Chirang district of Assam. It was founded on 21 July 1969 by enthusiastic and visionary residents of Bijni, initially operating as Bijni Tutorial College with an Arts stream from the Bijni Young Ladies Secondary School, starting with six teachers and 76 students. Ramani Kanta Sharma served briefly as its first head, followed by Uday Chandra Das, who led the institution for a long tenure. The foundation of the college building was laid on 18 March 1970, and the college moved into its own building on 27 July 1971, inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Assam, Mahendra Mohan Choudhury. The college is affiliated to Bodoland University and offers courses in both Arts and Science streams, including departments such as Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, English, Education, Economics, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology. In 2017, the college was awarded a 'B+' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (India).
