TINSUKIA MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
Tinsukia Medical College & Hospital is a medical college with an attached hospital situated in Makum, Tinsukia district, Assam, and is the 13th medical college established in the state. It functions under the State Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Assam, and is recognised by the National Medical Commission while being affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. As of the 2024–25 academic year, the college has a capacity of 100 undergraduate students. The Government of Assam approved the project for constructing the college and hospital, with funding from the Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority at an estimated cost of Rs. 350 Crores. The foundation stone was laid on 7 January 2019 by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and the college was formally inaugurated on 9 March 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The institution offers a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course lasting five and a half years, including a one-year internship. Prof. (Dr.) Rupak Kumar Gogoi serves as the first Principal cum Chief Superintendent, while Prof. (Dr.) Mukul Sarma currently holds the position of Medical Superintendent, succeeding Prof. (Dr.) Purnima Barua. The institution's motto is 'Ethics, Empathy, Excellence'.
