CSIR NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE COMMUNICATION AND POLICY RESEARCH
The National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) was formed in 2021 through the merger of the National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR) and the National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies. NISCAIR itself was founded in 2002 in New Delhi, India, as an information science institute, created by merging the Indian Scientific Documentation Centre (INSDOC), established in 1952, with NISCOM. NIScPR operates under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which oversees 38 other labs and institutes across India. The institute publishes several academic journals and magazines, including 18 journals and three popular science magazines—Science Reporter and its Hindi and Urdu editions—available as open access through the NISCAIR Online Periodicals Repository website. It also previously offered the Associateship in Information Science (AIS), a two-year master's degree level professional programme. The institute provides general services and National Science Library services as part of its operations.
