Govt. Degree College Beerwah, Kashmir

Government Degree College, Beerwah, also known as GDC Beerwah, is a coeducational degree college situated on a 60 Kanal campus in Beerwah, about 30 kilometres from Srinagar, in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It was established by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir under the Chief-Ministership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, with efforts led by Sarfaraz Ahmad Khan, then MLA of Beerwah. The college initially functioned in a few rooms of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Beerwah, offering limited subjects such as General English, Computer Applications, Applied Mathematics, Urdu, and Education. Since May 2010, it has operated from its present hilltop campus overlooking Beerwah town on the Beerwah-Kangripora road. The college has been affiliated with the University of Kashmir since its inception in 2005 and received permanent affiliation in 2010. It is included in the UGC's list of colleges under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, and receives UGC grants for academic and infrastructural development. In 2019, it underwent a NAAC Peer Team visit and was accredited with a B Grade (2.05 CGPA). The college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce, including BCA, and hosts study centres for MANUU and IGNOU.
