St . Lawrence College of Higher Education

St. Lawrence College (SLC) is a College of Applied Arts and Technology with three campuses in Eastern Ontario, located in Brockville (1970), Cornwall (1968), and Kingston (founded September 1969). It was established in 1967 as part of an Ontario government initiative, led by Minister of Education William Davis, to create colleges of applied arts and technology for career-oriented training. Kingston was chosen as the site of the main campus due to its larger population, on land purchased from the Ontario Psychiatric Hospital. Early programs included Business Administration, Home Economics, Early Childhood Education, Engineering Technology, and Electronics Technician; today about 89 programs are offered. The college offers accredited Baccalaureate Degree programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology. It has schools in Allied Health, Applied Science and Computing, Arts, Media, and Design, Business, Community Services, Interdisciplinary Studies and Pathways, Nursing, and Skilled Trades and Apprenticeships. The college is affiliated with Alpha College of Business & Technology in Toronto and Canadian College in Vancouver, though it stopped accepting new admissions to their programs as of May 2024. In April 2026, SLC announced a merger with Fleming College.
