THE UNIVERSITY OF TRANS-DISCIPLINARY HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY
The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU), previously called the Institute of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology, is a private university situated in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It was founded in 2013 by the Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Tradition (FRLHT) under The Institute of Trans-disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology Act, 2013. The founders of both FRLHT and TDU are Sam Pitroda and Anant Darshan Shankar, with the latter serving as the university's vice chancellor. TDU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through two schools: the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SLAS), which provides programmes in Life Sciences, and the School of Integrative Health Sciences (SIHS), which offers courses in Health Sciences. In September 2024, the university released a comprehensive five-volume dictionary of Ayurveda in Sanskrit, English, and Kannada, containing 5,000 technical Ayurvedic terms along with ancient works related to 'Jvara' (fever). This publication highlights the university's engagement with traditional and integrative health knowledge systems.
