Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour

Bihar Agricultural University is an autonomous public state university situated in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. It traces its origins to 1908, when it was founded as the Bengal Provincial Agricultural College by Andrew Henderson Leith Fraser. Following the partition of Bengal, the institution was renamed Bihar Agricultural College. It holds the distinction of being the oldest agricultural institute in the state of Bihar. In 2010, the university was placed under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), aligning it with national agricultural research standards. The university is actively engaged in research and extension activities related to agriculture. To disseminate research findings to farmers across Bihar, it entered into an agreement with the World Development Foundation, New Delhi, to implement the 'Agriculture Knowledge Dissemination System' project. This initiative aims to educate farmers using information and communication technology (ICT) and video conferencing systems, with the goal of improving agricultural and livestock production. The university currently comprises ten colleges, reflecting its expanded academic structure over the years.
