Dayanand Commerce College, Latur

Dayanand Education Society was founded in May 1961 to bring higher education to the rural area of Latur, which was then a small town in the former Osmanabad District. Before the society's establishment, students had to travel to cities like Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai for higher studies, which was often unaffordable for middle and lower-middle-class families. Dignitaries and business figures including Manikrao Sonavane, Chandrashekhar Vajpeyi, Ramgopal Rathi, and Keshavrao Sonawane founded the society to serve children of farmers, laborers, and workers. The society now runs eight colleges in Latur, including Dayanand College of Commerce, which offers instruction in both English and Marathi. The college is an authorized centre of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for CA examinations. It also hosts a Research Centre of Commerce and Management, with Dr. Brijmohan Dayma recognized as a research guide under Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (S.R.T.M.), Nashik. In 2010, the college conducted a state-level workshop titled 'Gateway to NET/SET exams.' Previously affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, the college is now affiliated with Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University following the formation of a new university in Nanded.
