GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC AMBALA

Government Polytechnic College, Ambala is a co-educational institution located in Ambala City, Haryana. It began as a Government/Industrial School in 1929, was developed into the Metal Works Institute in 1933, recognized in 1948 as the Government Technical Institute, and renamed Government Polytechnic in 1958. The institute is affiliated with the Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE), Panchkula, and approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and the Department of Technical Education, Government of Haryana (DTE). It is situated on the Ambala City-Chandigarh road, about 1 km from the bus stand and 8.1 km from Ambala Cantonment railway junction, spread over 24.6 acres. The college offers three-year undergraduate diploma programs across departments including Architecture, Auto Engineering, Applied Science, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Plastic Engineering, along with a Training and Placement Cell and Workshop. It also conducts architecture classes in collaboration with Govt. Polytechnic, Umri, and runs courses under schemes such as CEGO and Community Development Through Polytechnics (CDTP). Diploma holders from this institute serve in various government organizations across India.
