The Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani

The Technological Institute of Textile and Sciences (TITS) is an Indian technical college that offers engineering and postgraduate programs, with a special focus on textile technology. Its curriculum includes lectures from in-house and visiting faculty, discussions, seminars, project assignments, and visits to industrial and project sites. The institute is attached to a textile factory, allowing students to train under actual mill conditions and gain practical experience alongside theoretical study, enabling them to independently handle mechanical and administrative issues. TITS graduates are readily accepted by the textile industry. Administration is vested in the TIT&S College Managing Committee, constituted per All India Council for Technical Education guidelines. The institute is NAAC accredited with a B++ grade and approved under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. It is one of the few institutions in India, alongside the NITs and IITs, offering a BTech with Honours degree rather than a B.E. The college was founded in 1943 by Dr. Ghanshyam Das Birla and Pushkar D Makharia under the Birla Education Trust, initially affiliated with the Department of Industrial Training, Punjab, for a diploma in spinning and weaving technology. It separated from the trust in 1985 to become an independent society, later renamed to reflect expanded course offerings.
